Our Story
Did you know that Blossom Wellness started as a small Ayurveda & Massage practice in May 2017? Thanks to Lisa Olsen, Joanie was able to take what felt like a massive leap and launch what was then called "Blossom Ayurveda" in a small shared room above what used to be our beloved Embodied. This super part-time labor of love was her little one person practice she built on the side while she worked in the big spas and taught yoga downstairs for years! In 2019, Marisa Hall of MJH Ayurveda came onboard to learn Ayurvedic bodywork and is now an integral part of Blossom, from being Joanie's closest ally to helping her manage the wellness center on the day-to-day. Thanks to Marisa, we were able to embrace change and growth when we saw our demand grow during the pandemic. Between people needing and prioritizing holistic care and many local massage therapists changing career paths, we saw our schedules fill up. This is truly when Blossom became what it is today... we could have chosen to fill our schedule and start a waitlist, but instead we invited other talented practitioners to join the team and expand our offerings. From there, we gradually took on more space in our old historical building and eventually changed the name to "Blossom Wellness Center" to reflect the much broader approach of our many practitioners.
Then came summer of 2022, when Joanie caught wind that the beloved space below us that was once Yoga Mountain Center and then Embodied was being considered for offices. Joanie decided it needed to stay in the community and that space needed to remain as the healing sanctuary it had been for so many years and for so many of us. With the collaboration of many brave souls and with the support of previous owners Anjali and Lindsay, we jumped in and started what became a massive project: adding a full yoga and movement studio to the Blossom Wellness family. (ssshhhh the studio birthday is technically in November so sometimes we celebrate twice a year, why not!!!)
At this point in time, we operate seven days a week with 5 treatment rooms for 12 incredibly talented and knowledgeable bodywork professionals, and two lovely studios hosting over 20 weekly classes and many more workshops and special events with over 15 instructors and facilitators. Our clientele is primarily locals like you and me, who prioritize holistic modalities of care that work for their minds and bodies. Ayurveda is still infused in all we do, from the organic massage oils made in-house to basic principles of care, use of heat and aromatherapy and just how we hold the space for each other. In that ancient healing modality, prevention is greatly emphasized as we can find and maintain balance deep within the self to prevent dis-ease and illness.
And of course we wouldn't stop there! Between fundraising events, community gatherings, local and international retreats, local makers holiday markets and so much more, we strive to be a space where all are welcome and all can offer their healing gifts to the community.
We heal in community.
We grow in community.
And we need this so much right now.
